i was diagonised with spina biffida occulta at the age of 3.i am now 33years old.i have a large growth of hair at the bottom of my spine.it,s only been the last 4years that my back has been playing me up.i have problems with my right leg.on examination recently i have 60%movement,my leg stiffens,i cant bend over due to pain in lower back region.i have had 2 healthy baby,s.i have a careing partner who actually shaves my back for me twice a year.and even today when i go to hospital appointments and they askdo i have any disabilites,i like the look on there faces when i say yes and tell them what it is.i have had student doctors try and guess what the hair growth is .it,s surprising in this day and age that they are unaware of this condition.i do suffer with bowl problems,my bladder is fine,i just get on with it,i take painkillers every day,but that,s life with spina biffida.
