I am 23 and I have spina bifida occulta. I didn't know what it was until recently. I just thought that the patch of hair on my lower back was just a birthmark. I am grateful to not have experienced any major pain, but I was wondering, what types of surgeries are available to remove the hair patch? Mine is oval shaped and is about four inches in diameter. It is difficult to shave; it has been difficult to deal with all my life, but I am afraid to have any type of surgery. I have seen a few specialists who are more than willing to perform skin removal, electrolysis, and laser surgery. What out there is safe?
