Hi Carol,
Just read this after replying to your Trache Email, Aidan really does sound like Sophie at that age.
Sophie did not sit until she was over a year old , crawled at 18 moths and finally walked at 2 1/2.
We thought we would never get there but as is very common with Charge kids they do reach the targets it just takes longer and patience from all involved.
As for help we found the Physio was good for mobility but with help for sitting and walking we had a lot of help from the Occupational Therapist (the physio recomended). The OT supplied us with:
a U shaped cushion to support Sophie from behind so she could sit upright, this was gradually reduced until she sat on her own.
A small baby bath chair wich could support her sitting in a shallow bath (she loved being able to do this as i suppose its a bit of independence rather than being held).
A fiited chair which could support her back, hips & legs which meant she could sit at the table with us (this could also have its own table attached to allow playing).
And when she showed an interest the gave us a walking aid which is just a frame on wheels which was great to encourage walking. Which she eventually in her own time decided she didnt need anymore so we gave it back and she now walks unaided.
Also the Physio's used to spend a lot of time on balancing activities as this helps with sitting and walking.
Again Aidan sound so similar to Sophie that if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask (we may still have some leaflets or manuals for some of the kit we used).
